What is Fistula?



An anal fissure is a small tear or crack in the lining of the anus.

Causes of Fistula:



Most fistulas result an anal abscess. Small number of fistulas may less frequently be caused by other processes such as Crohn's disease, sexually transmitted diseases, trauma, tuberculosis, cancer, or diverticulitis.


Signs and Symptoms of Fistulas:



Severe anal pain can be both physically and psychologically debilitating. Not only does it haunt you every time you sit or visit the toilet, but it may feel like a difficult thing to discuss with a healthcare provider. Don’t let this stop you. Anorectal diseases and conditions deserve the same attention as any other. An anal fistula needs treatment, and the sooner you get it, the simpler that treatment is likely to be.

  • Pain, which is usually constant, throbbing and worse when sitting down
  • Constipation or pain associated with bowel movements Skin irritation around the anus, including swelling, redness and tenderness
  • Discharge of plus or blood
  • Fever
